Our Commitment to Privacy
Our Privacy Policy was developed as an extension of our commitment to combine the highest quality products and services with the highest level of integrity in dealing with our clients and partners. The Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use and safeguard the personal information that you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our site and our products and services. This statement will be continuously assessed against new technologies, business practices and our customers’ needs.

Keep in mind that no transmission of data over the Internet is guaranteed to be completely secure. It may be possible for third parties not under our control to intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully. If you choose to visit the LEAPS web site, your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy, including but not limited to limitations of damages and application of the law of the State of Texas.

By using our LEAPS web site, you consent to our collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. In order to fully understand your rights, we encourage you to read this Privacy Policy as well as our LEAPS Website Terms of Use. This Privacy Policy has been adopted with the recognition that Internet technologies are rapidly evolving, and that underlying business models are still not established. Accordingly, these policies are subject to change at any time and we reserve the right at any time and without notice to change this Privacy Policy simply by posting such changes on the LEAPS web site. Any such change will be effective immediately upon posting.

To assist you with reading through our Privacy Policy, we have provided answers to general questions on our privacy practices:

What Information Do We Collect?
When you visit our LEAPS web site you may provide us with two types of information: (1) Personal Information, which means personal information that you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis; and (2) Aggregate Information, which refers to general web site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our LEAPS web site.

1. Personal Information That You Choose to Provide

School Information
If you choose to use our product(s) or services and are licensed to do so by your district, you may need to give personal information such as name, grade, class, school, district, student identification information, number of students, etc. We reserve the right to request any additional personal information necessary to establish and maintain your account. However, we offer our products and services in compliance with FERPA by protecting the student's personal identification information from access or use by any person (including LEAPS personnel) other than you when you enter such information using your unique password. Our LEAPS website allows for encryption of the data and configuration of our operating systems in such a way that only the person using your unique password can access the data. Unless you share your unique password with another person, such student identification information and data will remain confidential.

Email Information
In addition, for the purpose of providing the general information from us and our partners, if you choose to correspond further with us through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.

We will retain any personal information submitted by you for fulfillment of the intended purposes for which such is collected. We will establish minimum and maximum retention periods based upon the type of information collected (i.e., sensitivity), the intended purposes and as otherwise may be legally required.

2. Aggregate Information Based on Web Site Usage

Aggregate Information is non-personally identifiable or anonymous information about you, such as pages most frequently accessed by you, time spent on a page or area of the LEAPS web site, the number of visits to the LEAPS web site by you, types of browser used by you, cookie preferences or search terms entered by you. Aggregate Information is used in a collective manner, and no single person can be identified by that compiled information (for example, the number of people who logged into the LEAPS web site in a particular day). Aggregate Information does not personally identify a specific user.
When you visit the LEAPS web site, we automatically collect Aggregate Information about your visit. We can tell the type of computer, browser, and web service that you are using. We also know the date, time, and pages that you visit. Collecting this information helps us design the LEAPS web site to enhance your experience while on our site.

We also may use Aggregate Information for internal purposes, such as tracking demographic data and providing targeted content to make the LEAPS web site more useful to our members. The gathering of this Aggregate Information may be accomplished by the use of cookies or web beacons by us. In particular, we will collect an IP Address from all visitors to the LEAPS web site. An IP Address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you use the Internet. We may share Aggregate Information with third parties to enhance your experience on our LEAPS website and otherwise in fulfillment of obligations. We use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our LEAPS web site, analyze trends, track users' movement on the LEAPS web site, gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the LEAPS web site, and deliver customized, personalized content. IP addresses, however, are not linked to Personal Information. We also may use an unique assigned number located with the LEAPS web site's URL to determine the web site from which you navigated to get to the LEAPS web site. While this number may not be apparent to you, it does not contain your Personal Information.

Similar to other commercial web sites, our LEAPS web site utilizes a standard technology called “cookies” (see explanation below, “What are Cookies?”) and web server logs or beacons to collect information about how our LEAPS web site is used. Information gathered through cookies and web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent at our LEAPS web site, and the web sites visited by you prior to and after our LEAPS web site. This information is collected on an aggregate basis. None of this information is associated with you as an individual.

How do we Use the Information That you Provide to Us?
Generally, we use personal information for purposes of administering our business activities, providing customer service and making available other products and services to our customers and prospective customers. Occasionally, we may also use the information that we collect to notify you about important changes to our LEAPS web site and new services and special offers that we think that you will find valuable. The lists are used to send you product and service offers developed and managed under our traditional corporate standards designed to safeguard the security and privacy of our customers’ personal information. As a customer, you will be given the opportunity, at least once annually, to notify us of your request not to receive these offers.

What are Cookies and Web Beacons?
Cookies are a feature of web browser software that allows web servers to recognize the computer used to access a web site. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s web browser on the user’s hard drive. Cookies can remember what information a user accesses on one web page to simplify subsequent interactions with that web site by the same user or to use the information to streamline the user’s transactions on related web pages. This makes it easier for a user to move from web page to web page and to complete commercial transactions over the Internet. Cookies should make your online experience easier and more personalized.

A web beacon is an object that is embedded in a web page or email and is usually invisible to the user but allows checking to see if the user has viewed the page or email.

How Do We Use Information That We Collect from Cookies or Web Beacons?
We use web site browser software tools such as cookies and web server logs to gather information about our web site users’ browsing activities, in order to constantly improve our LEAPS web site and better serve our customers. This information assists us to design and arrange our LEAPS web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our LEAPS web site to better meet the needs of our customers and prospective customers.

Cookies help us collect important business and technical statistics. The information in the cookies lets us trace the paths followed by users to our LEAPS web site as they move from one page to another. Web server logs allow us to count how many people visit our LEAPS web site and evaluate our LEAPS web site’s visitor capacity. We do not use these technologies to capture your individual email address or any personally identifying information about you.

Your browser is probably set to accept cookies or web beacons. However, if you would prefer not to receive cookies or web beacons, you can alter the configuration of your browser to refuse cookies or web beacons. If you choose to have your browser refuse cookies or web beacons, it is possible that some areas of our LEAPS web site will not function properly when you view them. Without cookies, the LEAPS web site would "forget" items that may be stored when you go to a different page. The session information used by the LEAPS web site is deleted when your browser is closed. However, some portions of the LEAPS web site may require account login and passwords in order to access those areas. Cookies enable our server to know that you are an account user; therefore, our system requires that you accept the cookies from those portions of the LEAPS web site. Other sites linked to the LEAPS web site also may send cookies; however we do not control such activities.

The LEAPS web site also may use other technologies to track the specific pages viewed by visitors on this web site or to target specific content that might be of interest to you. These technologies help us to understand how visitors use the LEAPS web site. However, you will have the option to opt out (or opt in if applicable law requires) of receiving such targeted content on those pages of our LEAPS web site where this technology is used.

Do We Share The Information Provide by or Collected from You?

As a general policy, we do not share, sell or trade Personal information with third parties without your permission; however, we may provide Personal Information to third parties directly involved in the operation, performance, support and/or maintenance of the LEAPS web site and each service offered on the LEAPS web site, including our web site service providers, technical consultant, network retailers and business partners. We may enter into strategic marketing alliances or partnerships with third parties who may be given access to your personal information including your name, address, telephone number and email (but not other data including student identification information) for the purpose of providing you with information regarding products and services that might be of interest to you. However, in connection with strategic marketing alliances or partnerships, we will not share information regarding your social security number or other personal financial data. We are committed to proper Internet practices and full compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 (15 U.S.C. Section 77-1 et al).

How Do We Secure Information Transmissions?
We maintain commercially reasonable safeguards to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of the Personal Information provided by you. Such security safeguards are intended to be appropriate to the sensitivity of the Personal Information collected. When you send confidential and/or personal information to us on our LEAPS web site, a secure server software encrypts all information that you input before it is stored in our network servers. The information also is scrambled en route and decoded once it reaches our LEAPS web site. These security measures work to make sure that such personal information is not accessible by third parties.

Other email that you may send to us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmission of that information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as social security or account numbers to us through an unsecured email.
